About Katrina Was her Name

Bryan writes a scorching blues song about the storm's aftermath. Hurricane Katrina displaced Bryan, and the New Orleans Muscians Relief Fund was proud to pass along a Headstrong Amp donated by Public Broadcasting station WGLT.
About Bryan Lee
Born in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, 1943, Bryan Lee completely lost his eyesight by the age of eight. His avid interest in early rock and blues was fostered through the 1950s by late night listening sessions via the Nashville-based radio station WLAC AM, where he first encountered the sounds of Elmore James, Albert King and Albert Collins. Bryan remembers thinking he didn't understand the music, but knew that's what he wanted to play.
By his late teens, Bryan was playing rhythm guitar in a regional band called The Glaciers that covered Elvis Presley, Little Richard and Chuck Berry material. Through the '60s, Bryan's interest turned to Chicago blues and he soon found himself immersed on that scene, opening for some of his boyhood heroes.
In January of 1982, in the midst of a particularly cold Wisconsin winter, Lee headed south to New Orleans, eventually landing a steady gig at the Old Absinthe House becoming a favorite of tourists in the city's French Quarter. For the next 14 years, Lee and his Jump Street Five played five nights a week at that popular bar, developing a huge following and a solid reputation.
Today Bryan is still keepin' the house rockin' in The Quarter. He also tours several times a year in the Midwest, Eastern Seaboard, Rocky Mountain States and recently Europe. He is currently on tour with Kenny Wayne Shepherd along with several other blues legends.
Brent Johnson was born in Texas but then moved to the North Shore in Mandeville, La with his family. He became interested in playing the guitar at the young age of 5, and through the years his father made sure that he listened to good music and all the great guitar players: Les Paul, Chet Atkins, and Scottie Moore. Brent became interested in the blues as a teenager and had several bands while in high school. After school he became involved in a band called Under the Gun. This is when Bryan heard the band's only CD and was very impressed. Although young, Brent had a terrific feeling for the blues and has been an integral part of the Blues Power Band for 4 years.
John Perkins was born in New Orleans and comes from a musical family. His father was a lead singer from the famous 50's singing group The Crew Cut. After High school he moved to Florida and spent a number of years working with show bands. The interesting thing is that John was not a drummer at first. One time at a rehearsal the drummer didn't show up so the leader asked John to sit in; an odd twist of fate showed that hewas even better than the original drummer. John has been playing the drums ever since. He was working with Brent in the band Under the Gun when Brent suggested John join the Blues Power Band. He followed through and has been the "Driving Wheel" for the past 3 1/2 years.
